"One day, I will write my autobiography. I want to write it myself to set the record straight.
So many lies have been told about me ... " (Maria Callas)
The beautiful Monica Bellucci gives voice to a poignant and fascinating self-portrait of the Divine Maria Callas in an exciting monologue on the stage of the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
On stage, the Italian actress will wear an original black dress of the wonderful singer. At the direction is the French Tom Volf, co-founder of the Fonds de Dotation Maria Callas in Paris, author of the docufilm Maria by Callas and editor of the book Maria Callas Letters & Memoirs.
The show is the intimate narration of the life of the greatest voice of the 20th century: from the modest childhood in New York to the war years in Athens; from her discreet beginnings in the opera world, to the heights of an extraordinary career, marked by scandals and personal challenges; from the idealized love for her husband, Giovanni Battista Meneghini, to the overwhelming passion for Aristotle Onassis.
For the first time, the true story behind the legend is revealed. Sometimes Maria is shown, the vulnerable woman torn between life on stage and private life. At other times, Callas, the "tiger" of bel canto, the perfectionist star in constant battle with her voice, which, despite her Parisian lonely later years, continued to work tirelessly until her last breath at the age of 53.
