On the occasion of the forthcoming Night of San Lorenzo, one of the most fascinating and magical moments of the year, Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura and Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali are dedicating the initiative Le Notti di San Lorenzo (The Nights of San Lorenzo) to the extraordinary spectacle of shooting stars. Three special events are scheduled for the evenings of Saturday 10, Sunday 11 at the Planetarium and Monday 12 August 2024 at the Villa of Maxentius.
Saturday 10 August at 9 p.m.
Under the dome of the Planetarium of Rome, the new show Quando cadono le Stelle (When the Stars Fall) awaits you, ideal for expressing your wishes and at the same time chasing the stars in the sky to the origin of their trails. An exciting run through the orbits of comets and asteroids, until you plummet towards Earth and 'become' a shooting star yourself. The show is preceded by the talk Un Circo aperto al Cielo (A Circus Open to the Sky), which introduces the evening of 12 August at the archaeological site of the Villa of Maxentius.
Sunday 11 August at 9.30 p.m.
In the show Accade tra le Stelle (It Happens Among the Stars), the quirky Doctor Stellarium involves the little ones (aged 5 and up) and their families in spotting the trails of shooting stars.
