Sala Fontana inside Palazzo delle Esposizioni hosts an exhibition by French-born artist Julie Polidoro, who now lives and works between Rome and Paris. Curated by Giuseppe Armogida, the exhibition features 14 suspended canvases characterized by dense colors, flat tones and tempered contrasts and is a continuation of a previous exhibition at Galerie Valérie Delaunay, the Parisian gallery established in 2014 to promote emerging artists with a focus on figurative painting.
The exhibition project stems from an attempt to understand our perception of disturbing images found on the web. In particular, the artist focuses on images of waiting places for migrants and landscapes where the consequences of global warming are visible. In both cases, there is a strong sense of the absence of space and time: invisible are the migrants we wish we could not see as well as the rising temperatures. Through painting we expand time, give space and voice to human beings we would normally prefer not to see. With painting, we go beyond fear.
