On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July, the archaeological area of the Circus Maximus will once again be the setting for the eagerly awaited appointment with Il Cosmo al Circo Massimo (The Cosmos at the Circus Maximus), two special evenings dedicated to archaeoastronomy curated by the astronomers of the Planetarium of Rome, who will take you on a fascinating virtual journey through the stars, history and myth
Il Cosmo al Circo Massimo is a unique and engaging experience for everyone; seated comfortably on the lawn, you will discover the secrets of the starry sky under the passionate guidance of expert astronomers.
On the evening of Saturday 12 July, you will be involved in a virtual journey of stargazing, accompanied by the multi-voice narration of the astronomers of the Planetarium of Rome, Gabriele Catanzaro, Gianluca Masi, Stefano Giovanardi and Luca Nardi. The experience will be enriched and made more vivid by the stunning images captured by the Virtual Telescope and a telescope set up on site, projected on two mega screens. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to understand how much the light pollution of cities limits our view of the universe, but also to appreciate how much it is still possible to admire. Looking at the past and the history of Rome and its monuments, you will discover how, since ancient times, human beings have always turned their gaze to the sky to dream, study and understand the mechanisms of their surroundings.
