On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November, Roma Capitale is launching an awareness campaign with the title #NessunaScusa, with which, through a month of events throughout the city, the city is reaffirming its commitment against gender-based violence.
The programme includes free activities - guided visits, debates, storytelling and dance performances - with compulsory booking, proposed by the Assessorato alla Cultura and the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali.
Through the extraordinary artistic, historical, and archaeological heritage of the Eternal City, the initiatives, many of them accompanied by an interpreter in Italian Sign Language, offer a broad focus on the identity and role of women: the exhibition Roma pittrice. Artiste al lavoro tra XVI e XIX secolo at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi, which highlights the successes and discriminations of the artists featured in the exhibition; the debate at the Museo di Casal de' Pazzi, offering new interpretations on the figure of women in prehistory; the works of the exhibition La poesia ti guarda. Omaggio al Gruppo 70 at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna, which invite reflection on gender stereotypes; the thematic visit to the Museo del Teatro Argentina exploring the role of women in the history of theatre; the story dedicated to Colomba Antonietti, a young heroine of the 1849 Roman Republic, at the Museo della Repubblica Romana e della memoria garibaldina; the meeting at the Mercati di Traiano - Museo dei Fori Imperiali, which, taking inspiration from the figure of the Caryatids, reflects on violence against women in ancient times; the narrations and readings with music at the Theatre of Marcellus on the events of the women of the Giulio Claudia family and, finally, the dance performances and dialogue with the public at the Villa di Massenzio dedicated to enhancing individual rights beyond any gender distinction.
