
Casa del Cinema hosts an exhibition dedicated to Federico Fellini and Pellegrino Artusi, on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of the famous director (100 years) and the great gastronome (200 years), author of Science in the kitchen and the art of eating well, the cookbook par excellence.
The homage to the two extraordinary men from Romagna, connected by the exquisite combination of cinema and food, is conveyed through images of culinary and convivial scenes. Taken from Fellini's films, the photographs portray protagonists and extras around large tables, family or solitary meals. Besides, backstage photos of snacks or lunch breaks of the crew and director, accompanied by the famous commercials directed by the Maestro.
Fellini's gastronomic path starts from films such as I vitelloni (1953), Ginger and Fred (1986) and, among others, masterpieces such as La strada (1954), La dolce vita (1960), 8 ½ (1963) and Amarcord (1973). The photographic documentation comes from public archives and private collections, and it is the work of some of the greatest photographers of Italian cinema. Documentation photos of the commercial for Barilla (“Alta società - Rigatoni”) and Banca di Roma are also on display to enrich the exhibition.
The exhibition, curated by Antonio Maraldi, is produced and organized by Centro Cinema Città di Cesena, Regione Emilia Romagna, Casa Artusi di Forlimpopoli, Cineteca del Comune di Rimini, in collaboration with Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia-Cineteca Nazionale di Roma, Cinemazero di Pordenone, Barilla G. & R F.lli SpA., Centro Cinema Città di Cesena.
