After the recent opening to the public, from the end of 2021, of the Serra Moresca of Villa Torlonia, the Torre Moresca is now also visitable by citizens and tourists. Together with the Serra Moresca in fact, the Tower forms an architectural complex with arabesque lines, designed around 1839 by the architect Giuseppe Jappelli for Prince Alessandro Torlonia, inspired by the Alhambra in Granada.
So from next April 1st until June 24th, every Saturday it is possible to visit the two floors of the Moresca Tower and live those suggestions an that marvel which impressed the few and privileged guests of Prince Torlonia. An elegant dining room was set up in the highest room of the Tower, with large windows framed by cast iron frames and coloured glass and had walls richly decorated with polychrome stuccos. Furthermore, in the center of the room, there was a sofa which, by activating a hidden mechanism, could be raised towards the ceiling, simultaneously raising a laden table, prepared in the meantime, in the kitchen below. The initiative is promoted by Roma Culture, the Capitoline Superintendency for Cultural Heritage, with the museum services of Zètema Progetto Cultura. The Torre Moresca can be visited with a compulsory reservation at the call center 060608 (active every day from 9.00-19.00) by purchasing the entrance ticket to the Serra Moresca at the same time (4€ full, 3€ reduced, + 1€ pre-sale), always by the call centre. The visit is completely free for holders of a valid MIC Card, but reservations by telephone remain mandatory.
