A single large stage that, from mid-June to October, turns the spotlight on the entire city. The traditional summer event promoted by the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale brings entertainment and culture from the center to the outskirts of Rome, with a wide-ranging program of events (film screenings, performances, concerts, exhibitions, meetings, guided tours, workshops for children and young people, and much more) promoted by the city’s cultural institutions and associations that have won the municipal tenders, in addition to the projects supported by the city administration for their relevance in the cultural, artistic and creative spheres.
Once again this year, the cinema is one of the great protagonists of the summer in the city, with 26 open-air arenas and events, 12 of which with free admission. Among the shows and events organized between June and July are the Villa Ada Festival, the 9th edition of the international contemporary dance festival Fuori Programma, the summer festival of the dell’Accademia Filarmonica Romana Harmoniae, Videocittà - The Festival of Vision and Digital Culture, LETTERATURE - Festival internazionale di Roma, now in its 23rd edition.
Events organized between July and August include I Concerti nel Parco Estate 2024 in the park of the Casa del Jazz: 12 musical performances with no genre barriers (including world premieres and unique dates in Rome) in a mixture with other arts, from literature to journalism, from theatre to satire and dance. The summer season of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma will animate the spaces of the Caracalla Baths until 10 August with the Caracalla Festival 2024, while the summer program of the Fondazione Musica per Roma will move to the Auditorium Parco della Musica cavea until 13 September with the Roma Summer Fest 2024. Until 6 August, the best contemporary jazz is at the Casa del Jazz with Summertime 2024.
The most awaited events between September and October include the 39th edition of the Romaeuropa Festival, with over 100 projects including music, dance, theatre, new circus, creations for children and digital arts; Short Theatre; and the 6th edition of Tevere Day, the project that aims to enhance the river on which Rome was born thanks to the synergy with some 200 associations that are involved in various ways with the Tiber.
In addition to all these events, there are also numerous exhibitions scheduled by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Mattatoio and the MACRO.
