Cyrano de Bergerac

Cyrano de Bergerac-Foto: Tommaso La Pera

The show on stage at the Ambra Jovinelli Theatre, directed by Arturo Cirillo, is a song theatre, inspired by a musical from thirty-five years ago with music by Domenico Modugno. Taken from the play of the same name by Edmond Rostand (1868-1918), the piece places the emphasis more on the poetic and visionary side of Cyrano and less on that of a swordsman and fine connoisseur of rhetoric, with reworkings of the music from the original show and new elaborations of historic musical pieces, from Èdith Piaf to Fiorenzo Carpi. A different and unusual way to tell the sad love story involving the three characters of Cyrano, Rossana and Cristiano through words and music, which contribute to making it more exciting and engaging.

In fact, the feeling of the impossible love that Cyrano feels for Rossana, a man who considers himself ugly and therefore not worthy of being loved, always remains in the foreground.

With Irene Ciani, Rosario Giglio, Francesco Petruzzelli, Giulia Trippetta, and Giacomo Vigentini. Original music and reworkings by Federico Odling.
