The Casa del Jazz hosts the solo piano concert of the great talent of the international jazz scene. Born in Minneapolis in 1970, Taborn boasts an extraordinary musical career that, for over twenty-five years, ranges from free jazz to contemporary music, from electronic to rock to noise.
Over the years, the American pianist, keyboardist and composer has collaborated with the greatest exponents of jazz, improvised and electronic music. Among them, Roscoe Mitchell, Wadada Leo Smith, Lester Bowie, Dave Holland, Tim Berne, John Zorn, Evan Parker, Steve Coleman, David Torn, Chris Potter and William Parker, to name a few.
Taborn made his breakthrough in the 1990s and is currently involved in numerous musical groups and projects, such as the Craig Taborn Trio, the Junk Magic, the Daylight Ghosts Quartet, the Golden Valley is Now - an instrumental electronic art-pop group - and a trio with Tomeka Reid and Ches Smith, as well as collaborations with other prestigious musicians.
Passion, virtuosity and the ability to improvise are the features of the eclectic artist, who recently released Shadow Plays, his improvised album, recorded during his 2020 performance at the Konzerthaus in Vienna.
