The Kiev Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra performs Antonín Dvořák's V Symphony From the New World at the Auditorium Conciliazione. The event, which is part of the cultural event "Jubilee is culture", promoted by the Dicastery for Evangelization, is the first of the eight "Jubilee Concerts - Harmonies of Hope”.
The Symphony no. 9 in E minor op. 95, also known as the Symphony "From the New World", is the ninth and last symphony of the great Czech composer. Composed between 1892 and 1893 in New York, it was premiered at Carnegie Hall in 1893 by the New York Philharmonic, immediately achieving an enormous success.
The Symphony was born from the encounter with a musical culture very different from the European one which had notable influences and repercussions on its compositional genesis. The local culture in fact enriched the musician who proposed a symphony of classical European origin, although contaminated by native American music. Furthermore, in this latest Symphony, the Bohemian musician seems to move away from previous symphonic works, finding instead a line of writing less solemn and austere, more free and innovative. The orchestra that performs the songs was created by a group of very talented Ukrainian musicians and is directed by maestro Dmitry Yablonsky, an internationally renowned cellist.
The concert is free and ticket availability is guaranteed while seats last.
