Carnevale Tiberino - 3rd edition

By canoe, on foot and by bicycle: Rome has its own carnival parade on the banks of the Tiber, for children, families and sports enthusiasts, to discover the city and its river, participate in a healthy psycho-physical wellness activity in the open air and emphasise the importance, both sporting and touristic, of the quality of the river environment and its waters, even in an urban context.

Now in its third edition, the "Carnevale Tiberino", in which participation is free, is an opportunity to dress up in the open air and follow a sporting and tourist route along the banks of Rome's beloved river.

The animators will be waiting for you at the Scalo de Pinedo (Metro Flaminio) from 10 a.m. on Sunday 11 February 2024 from where, at 11 a.m., the guided parade to Castel Sant'Angelo will start. Arrival is scheduled for 1 p.m.

At the Scalo de Pinedo, the large Tiber Peace Flag (100,000 square centimetres) will be unfurled, with the hope of bringing people and the ecosystem back to the centre of interest of communities, because all the world's children and their families have the right to play in the open air.

The event, organised by the 'Discesa Internazionale del Tevere' (International Descent of the Tiber) association, is a sporting-motor initiative that will also see, again at 11 a.m., the departure into the water of colourful canoes, rubber dinghies and SUPs accompanied by river guides.

Carnevale Tiberino awaits you with:

• A photo contest on Instagram that will reward the carnival photo with the most "likes" and the hashtag #carnevaletiberino.
• A Carnival Mask award to the best masks for relevance to the Tiber event, originality and re-use of materials.

The initiative has a "zero waste" policy and disposable plastic is not allowed.

To participate
There is no cost for participation, but to descend the river with your own means of transport (canoe or SUP and all paddle means suitable for the descent of the river) it is necessary, for organisational and insurance reasons, to be registered with the ASD Discesa Internazionale del Tevere Association.
