The concert connects music of the Roman 1600s with the Baroque architecture of the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, a masterpiece by Francesco Borromini. In fact, the links between music and architecture are many: both are organized in codified formal structures, both supporting the architectural and the sound work.
The evening opens with a performance of overtone sung by the specialist Luigi Polsini, who reveals the internal architecture of the phenomenon we know as sound. The audience is invited to participate actively in the performance, producing the fundamental sound from which the overtone chant moves.
With Luigi Polsini (viola da gamba and overtone singing), Lorenzo Sabene (theorbo and baroque guitar) and interventions by Luca Ribichini, professor of Architecture at La Sapienza University in Rome. The program includes music by Johann Jeronimous Kapsberger, Ferdinando Valdambrini, Francesco Corbetta, Lelio Colista, Gaspar Sanz.
