2022 Musei in Musica

Musei in Musica 2022

A long night under the banner of art, culture and music, to be spent inside civic museums and some of the city’s most significant venues, universities, academies, embassies and foreign institutes, exhibition and cultural spaces. Three years after the last edition, the historic event Musei in Musica returns, promoted by Roma Culture, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali with the organizational coordination of Zètema Progetto Cultura. Special guest of the 2022 edition is Fiorella Mannoia, with an intimate and exciting live piano and voice performance among the evocative architecture of the Mercati di Traiano, but more than 100 events are scheduled, including concerts, live performances and guided tours organized in about 50 spaces.

Rich in masterpieces and curiosities, works from the permanent collections and those from current exhibitions accompany visitors to the civic museums, which are open extraordinarily from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the symbolic cost of one euro (free for MIC Card holders and where expressly provided), on a journey through music that combines tradition and contemporaneity, classical repertoire and experimentation, from jazz to pop, folk to techno. Notes, rhythms and harmonies are enhanced by forays into the world of dance and performing arts. Among the Civic Museums involved: Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, Mercati di Traiano - Musei dei Fori Imperiali, Museo di Roma, Museo Napoleonico, Museo di Roma in Trastevere, Museo Pietro Canonica, Musei di Villa Torlonia (Casina delle Civette, Casino Nobile, Serra Moresca), Museo delle Mura, Museo Carlo Bilotti, Museo di scultura antica Giovanni Barracco, Museo Civico di Zoologia, Museo della Repubblica Romana e della memoria garibaldina, Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Museo di Casal de' Pazzi. With regular ticketing and mandatory presale is finally the Space Opera event at the Planetarium of Rome, an interplanetary science fiction journey based on the notes of Gustav Holst’s suite Op.32: The Planets.

Over the course of the evening, the range of concerts and performances reaches numerous other spaces in the city, for example the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the Mattatoio, the Macro Museum, the Teatro dell'Opera, the WEGIL venue, the gardens of Piazza Fanti with installations and Videomapping shows curated by the Acquario Romano, and Technotown, the Hub of Creative Science at Villa Torlonia. Also joining in the 2022 edition of Musei in Musica are the Academy of Hungary, the Academy of San Luca, the Real Academia de España en Roma, the Academy and Embassy of Romania, the Swiss Institute, Sapienza University of Rome, with the extraordinary opening of its Museum Complex, and Lumsa University, which will open its Aula Teatro in Piazza Adriana.

Special events include the extraordinary openings of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, with a concert by the Army Military Band, the Lateran Palace, the Vittoriano Complex and Palazzo Venezia, and, finally, the Jewish Museum of Rome, with a performance by the Orchestra Popolare Romana, and unguided tours of the Synagogue.
