On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026, the European Heritage Days (EHDs), the largest cultural event in Europe, promoted by the Council of Europe and the European Commission and coordinated for Italy by the Ministry of Culture, return to Italy and Rome.
The two-day program includes guided tours, special openings, conferences, and many other initiatives at public and private museums and cultural venues across the country. Additionally, special evening openings at state museums are scheduled for Saturday, with admission at the symbolic cost of €1.
The theme of the 2026 edition which is Protecting Heritage. Renewing, Resisting, Reinventing, it is intended as an invitation to reflect on cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, and on the shared responsibilities required to ensure its preservation and transmission to future generations, so that it continues to be a source of memory, identity, and cohesion.
