Istituto Paritario Ugo Foscolo - Indirizzo Design Moda

Located in the Ostia neighborhood, the city’s seaside, Istituto Ugo Foscolo has been operating in the field of education for years and was granted the school parity of Liceo Artistico (an Italian secondary school based on art-related topics) in 2016.

Students can choose from three courses of study: Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Fashion Design. The articulation in Fashion Design features specific areas designed to train students toward fashion culture. The study is divided into theoretical subjects, such as history of costume and history of stylism, which are necessary to acquaint students with the historical/aesthetic aspects of fashion; theoretical-practical subjects, such as design, with which to translate one’s vision of the world into designs of clothes and costumes; and practical subjects proper to the Design Laboratory, which can transform the idea into sewn garment through pattern-making and tailoring. The Fashion Design Lab involves the study of textile culture, pattern making and tailoring techniques, culminating in the creation of a prototype of a student-designed garment. The five-year course is aimed at obtaining a secondary school diploma.

The institute’s educational offerings also include one-year post-diploma courses in fashion design, tailoring and pattern making, aimed at the creation of a mini collection inspired by a famous brand. The courses are aimed at the future talents of tomorrow, providing them with the tools to realize a dream that can translate into a profession. All courses include meetings with industry experts and internships at fashion academies.
