The 77th Season of the University Concerts Institution presents a program of concerts ranging from the more traditional classical repertoire to the avant-garde, bringing important masters and young talents on the Aula Magna stage.
This year, the busy musical calendar welcomes harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock, flutist Emmanuel Pahud and cellist Jonathan Manson exceptionally in trio to interpret music by Bach and Telemann.
This season also marks a debut for the cellist Zlatomir Fung, acclaimed winner of the 2019 edition of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Competition: accompanied by the pianist Richard Fu, he performs a Sonata by Schubert and Šostakovič, a Fantasy by Popper and a Roman premiere by the conductor of Finnish orchestra and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen.
On programme we can also find compositions by Luciano Berio and some monographic evenings dedicated to composers who are cornerstones of the history of music such as Josquin Desprez, Stravinskji and Saint-Saëns.
Finally a tribute to the Oscar-winning composer Ennio Morricone with some of his historical musicians (the cellist Luca Pincini, the pianist Gilda Buttà and the flutist Paolo Zampini) and a jazz evening dedicated to Nino Manfredi on the centenary of his birth: drummer Roberto Gatto and his Ensemble revisit passages taken from the soundtracks of the most famous films of the great actor that have now entered the history of cinema.
