The Domus Aurea opens its doors to visitors on the third Thursday of each month for a series of in-depth thematic tours: during the guided tours, participants are led on a discovery of previously unseen itineraries that reveal Nero's palace in a new, interesting light.
SCHEDULED EVENTS:
The Trees of the Domus Aurea
April 16, 4:00 PM
The Domus Aurea was conceived not as a simple palace, but as an immense royal palace in which green spaces and buildings were closely connected. This relationship between garden and pavilions was interrupted by Trajan, but resumed, in a different way, following the dismantling of the Trajan Baths. Plants will be the focus of this educational tour; we will discover which plants were present during the Neronian era and which can be found today.

Light in the Domus Aurea
November 19, 4:00 PM

The proposed tour aims to demonstrate how light has embellished a monument that has been immersed in darkness for centuries.
