The La Petita Malumaluga company is presenting, as part of the Romaeuropa Festival – REF 2025, its latest creation, Marceline, at the former Mattatoio. The show features a dancer, a soprano, and a live string quartet to tell the extraordinary story of Marceline Orbés who, born in 1873 in the southern Pyrenees, was a pioneer of the modern clown and Charles Chaplin's teacher. His career was highly successful at the New York Hippodrome, but with the advent of cinema, his art was forgotten. His great-great-granddaughter Eva, fascinated by his legacy, has decided to revive Marceline's memory, by creating this show that blends dance, live music, and technology, recounting the life of this great artist and the strong bond he shared with his descendant. Spectators – both adults and children – are thus transported on an exciting and engaging journey back in time, to discover the performing arts and their value.
La Petita Malumaluga is a company of dancers and musicians specializing in performing arts for infants, toddlers, and their families. It stands out for its creative projects, new languages, and contemporary artistic approaches.
