The National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo hosts an extraordinary exhibition celebrating the most charismatic and representative Italian actor on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Named after one of Mastroianni's most famous films, the exhibition accompanies visitors on an evocative journey through the most significant moments of his life on set and in his private life through 100 images for 100 years - taken by famous photographers - that reveal the many nuances of the artist, from the iconic characters of his career to behind-the-scenes, and the man.
Curated by Gian Luca Farinelli, Director of the Cineteca di Bologna, Mastroianni. Ieri, Oggi, Sempre has two sections - on set, displaying the photographs captured during performances or filming, and off set, with the shots that immortalise Marcello, his story and his personality, and is an unmissable opportunity to explore the world of the fascinating, ironic and versatile actor with a warm and deep voice, the symbol of the ‘Dolce Vita’ with a great passion for Cinema.
An official event of the 19th Rome Film Fest, the exhibition is promoted by the Pantheon Institute and Castel Sant'Angelo - Direzione Musei nazionali della città di Roma del Ministero della Cultura, with the patronage of the Regione Lazio. It is organised by Civita Mostre e Musei in collaboration with Fondazione Cinema per Roma, Cineteca di Bologna, Archivio Storico Istituto Luce, Biblioteca Museo Teatrale SIAE, Fondazione Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Rai Teche, with the contribution of private archives.
