Located in a beautiful park of about two and a half hectares, the Casa del Jazz is a unique place in the heart of Rome.
Housed inside Villa Osio, an elegant manor house built at the end of the 1930s, its architecture recalls an old 17th-century farmhouse. The owner, Arturo Osio, one of the founders of the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, entrusted its construction to Cesare Pascoletti, a pupil of Piacentini.
Today, the Casa del Jazz is a multifunctional center consisting of three buildings. Inside the main structure, there is a 150-seat auditorium used for live concerts, screenings, and meetings. A sophisticated system allows the recording of products for the diffusion of concerts and events hosted by the House. In the same building is a valuable audiovisual archive accessible through multimedia stations and a library open to the public.
The other two buildings host professional rehearsal and recording rooms for novice and professional musicians, a guest house for musicians, and a restaurant.
Internationally renowned artists participate in its rich program every year, but the Casa also promotes less known artists.
The goal of the Casa del Jazz is to encourage and disseminate Made in Italy Jazz, to constitute a meeting point for musicians, producers, critics, to attract and educate an audience of curious and not insiders. For this reason, the Casa offers cycles of Jazz history lessons held by the leading experts in the field, listening guides, press conferences, presentations of new discographies and editorials, educational activities organized by the best Roman schools of music, reading, film festivals, and live concerts.
