Located in the elegant Rione Prati, Accademia Koefia, the first Haute Couture Academy in Italy, has developed a method based on the construction of the paper pattern on the mannequin, the French moulage method.
Since 1951, Accademia Koefia has been preparing students through a three-year course strongly oriented towards the practical component of the trade. The course is complete: from the designed project to the creation of paper patterns; prototype in sartorial cloth to the realisation of the dress in fabric according to Haute Couture criteria and techniques.
A Koefia student is a designer capable of working at any stage of the creative process, from sketch on paper to the creation of a complete dress.
The Accademia also pays special attention to the complementary components that make a dress a luxury item: embroidery, knitwear, gloves, hats and accessories.
Although the teaching at Accademia Koefia is rooted in the Italian sartorial tradition, special attention is paid to innovations in the sector: 2D and 3D CAD CAM modelling systems (Lectra and CLO3D), digital illustration and the study of trendy websites have been part of the training programme for many years now.
The aim of the Academy's teaching is to train young designers with a strong project identity, equipped with a critical sense and a high technical-practical preparation.
A placement service has also been activated, which has significantly increased job opportunities for graduates and at the same time multiplied relations with companies.
Since March 2014, the Academy has been accredited with the E.A.B.H.E.S. and awards a Bachelor's Degree.
It also organises a Master in Haute Couture production, a two-year course on making clothes using Italian Haute Couture techniques.
