From 6 to 22 September, the World Skate Sports World Cup brings 12 disciplines to four Italian regions for a single major event that awards 156 titles.
After the past editions that have featured the cities of Nanjing in 2017, Barcelona in 2019 and Buenos Aires in 2022, the World Skate Games are coming to Italy for the first time and promise an unprecedented event: a young, urban and sustainable event that will involve millions of fans, especially the younger generations passionate about skateboarding, the sport that is by far the most followed on social media.
The Italian edition of the WSG 2024 is expected to be attended by over 12,000 athletes, technicians and delegations from 100 countries around the world, and tens of thousands of fans from all over the globe.
A universal language, that of rollerskating, which unites athletes from 12 different sports in a single event: among the disciplines ready to set the public ablaze are the more urban ones, born on city streets, such as Skateboarding, Freestyle and Scootering, and the more adrenalin-fuelled and speedy ones such as Speed, Skatecross, Downhill and Slalom. The exciting team sports, such as Rink Hockey, Inline Hockey and Roller Derby, all the way to the much-loved figure skating that has some of the greatest world champions in the history of this discipline in Italy.
The opening ceremony will be held in Rome, which will also host the trials of the Olympic discipline of Skateboarding: Park and Scootering will be at Ostia, Street and again Scootering at Colle Oppio, while the terrace of the Pincio will be the suggestive venue for Vert, as well as Freestyle and Skate Cross.
