The Art of Distinction
In 1882, Francesco Bertoletti, an umbrella maker from Piedmont, founded what is still today the oldest fur company in Rome. The company survived two world wars thanks to its unique style and spirit of initiative, which helped Bertoletti furs expand into foreign markets.
In 1957, Nikita Chruščëv invited Cesare Bertoletti to participate in the Moscow fashion shows, and he was the only representative of Italian haute couture in Russia. In 1968, under the direction of Alessandro Bertoletti, his fur shop became part of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion. Top models like Pat Cleveland and Bianca Jagger were immortalized wearing Bertoletti’s unique garments, in photographs by Johnny Moncada and Bob Krieger.
The business has been run by Francesco Bertoletti, the founder’s great-grandson, since 1984. Continuing on the path of his predecessors, he combines tradition and innovation, offering customers unique and exclusive tailored handmade clothes, all with a serial number and guarantee, made entirely in Rome. The experience and sensitivity of Bertoletti and his staff, ensure that every customer is helped in choosing exactly the right fur for them.
Bertoletti adheres to the Origin Assured project for the protection of farmed and protected species, and, since 2022, to the Furmark project, the global certification and traceability scheme for natural, sustainable fur. For those customers who are more sensitive to ethical issues, Bertoletti has launched its FUR FREE project, which involves reusing old furs, giving them a modern cut and therefore a new lease of life.
Clothing is like a mirror of our souls, and Bertoletti interprets its image with refined mastery.
