The jazz guitarist Andrea Gomellini presents his latest quintet album The Gift at the Casa del Jazz; in the show he is flanked by high quality musicians: Simone Alessandrini on alto sax, Danilo Blaiotta on piano, Jacopo Ferrazza on double bass and Valerio Vantaggio on drums.
The album, which consists of eight original songs born from the vivid inspiration of Gomellini, is characterized by a well-articulated improvisational discourse. Thought halfway between modern jazz and contemporary jazz, The Gift enhances the stylistic and communicative identity of Andrea Gomellini: there is the testimony to musical references, from groove, to swing and fusion, matured by the leader of the quintet in his long American experience, but also a sincere impulse towards a new way of doing jazz. Always privileging the pleasure and accessibility of listening with class and style; melancholic themes, other joyful ones thus alternate in a great balance, in which Gomellini's guitar bases the sound plot, in search of a complete fusion with the other instruments and musicians.
