Palazzo Silvestri - Rivaldi

The entire area is characterized by historical, environmental and archaeological constraints. The complex extends continuously for over a hectare; the buildings consist of an older palace built between 1534 and 1549 for Eurialo Silvestri based on an initial project by Sangallo the Younger, with entrance from Via del Tempio della Pace and Via del Colosseo; a residential villa with access from Via del Colosseo; a park with entrance from Via del Colosseo and Via dei Fori Imperiali. This last access is highlighted by a municipal belvedere terrace, enriched by architectural and sculptural elements such as nymphaeums and statues; the complex also features archaeological areas already identified by the Superintendency relating to the remains of a Roman villa from the 1st century AD; the villa and the Palace are in direct contact via the park, which is accessed through the round-arched entrance portal located along Via del Colosseo.

Inside the Palace there are frescoes on the walls and vaults, attributed to Perin Del Vaga. The Falda plan of 1676 is particularly precious because, behind the palace on the road, it shows a real villa made up of small buildings and a large park; a small building with a very complex plan overlooking the edge of the property towards the Colosseum and a small building, in the center of the garden, along the main avenue that led from the entrance near the Colosseum to the villa; this second building with a quadrangular plan was incorporated into the arm that extends towards the park, probably with the works of Monsignor Rivaldi (subsequently, therefore, to its acquisition in 1662).
