Parco Green - Parco Archeologico del Colosseo

The Parco archeologico del Colosseo is more than just an archaeological site; it’s also a sprawling green area that encompasses over 40 hectares (counting just the Roman Forum and Palatine areas) in the heart of Rome. A “nature reserve” where the spontaneous vegetation typical to the Mediterranean area grows alongside the towering trees planted in centuries past, allowing visitors to experience the spirit of the ancient imperial gardens and the Renaissance-era Farnese Gardens, which both decorated the venerable hill at various points in history. This green area is also the habitat of choice for a wide array of small mammals, reptiles, insects and birds.

To make the most out of the exceptional natural area that has been passed down to us and to contribute to the development of sustainable economy in its various aspects, the Parco archeologico del Colosseo is launching the new “PArCo Green” project.
