Timeless Elegance
On the Caleffi website, there is the heading “Born with style”. Enrico Caleffi’s business started out as men's shirt shop, in Via dei Due Macelli, at the end of the nineteenth century. Shortly afterwards, he moved to Via della Colonna Antonina, opposite the Parliament building, and thanks to the superior handmade quality of his shirts, that’s when he began to make a name for himself.
His attention to detail, together with the selection of fabrics, led to Caleffi becoming the preferred choice for many professionals, politicians, diplomats, and intellectuals. They created the renowned high, two-buttoned "Gastone collar”, made famous by Petrolini.
From the Second World War onwards, Caleffi was an authoritative voice for men's fashion in Rome, and his shop was a reference point for anyone wanting the advice of expert professionals when purchasing classy clothes.
And not only shirts, but also ties and made-to-measure tailored suits, made with luxury Italian fabrics, like those by Loropiana and Zegna. The guaranteed quality and Caleffi’s skilled workmanship, meant that over time he has also earned the loyalty of more demanding customers, including some important names. And international customers, in search of Italian style, are also won over by the elegance of Caleffi clothing, continuing to order items online even after they’ve gone home.
Since 2015, the shop has been in Via in Aquiro, just a short distance from the old location. Today the business is run by Michele Guastamacchia, using the 35 years of experience he has gained in the shop. Therefore, Caleffi's journey continues. In Rome, it has represented male elegance and an unmistakable choice of style for over a century.
