IUC (University Concert Institution) Concert Season 2026/2027

From October 17, 2026, to May 8, 2027, the Aula Magna of the Rectorate of Sapienza University of Rome will host the 82nd season of the University Concert Institution, with great international performers, important groups, and young talents.

The program offers a rich official programme of 38 concerts in total, structured as per tradition, into two main cycles: Saturday afternoon at 5:30 pm, called the Calliope Cycle, and Tuesday evening at 8:30 pm, called the Minerva Cycle. These cycles are joined by a non-subscription concert and two matinees.

The series opens on Saturday, October 17, 2026, with the inaugural event of the Calliope Cycle, performed by the Canova Chamber Orchestra conducted by Enrico Pagano, who accompanies the violinist Hawijch Elders in the Concert Op. 61 along with the Second Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven. The Minerva Cycle begins on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with a performance by pianist Arsenii Moon and the Colloredo Ensemble of music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Among the many internationally renowned performers, standouts include pianists Lilya Zilberstein and Marc-André Hamelin, winner of the prestigious 2025 Busoni Prize; the duo Carolin Widmann and Gabriele Carcano, who perform the complete Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano; and outstanding ensembles such as Ilya Gringolts, the Jack Quartet, the Kuss Quartet, the Mare Nostrum Ensemble, Markus Stockhausen, Mario Brunello, the Cellofellos, and the British vocal octet VOCES8, scheduled for April 13, 2027.

The season officially closes on Saturday, May 8, 2027, with the return of the Canova Chamber Orchestra and pianists Eleonora and Beatrice Dallagnese, who performs a program ranging from Bach's Concertos for Two Harpsichords to Benjamin Britten's Simple Symphony, including the first performance in Rome of Symphony No. 1. 3 "Madnesses" by Nicola Campogrande.
