Dentro l'universo di Schumann di notte a Villa Giulia (Inside Schumann's universe at night at Villa Giulia)

From September 8th to 13th, starting at 8:15 pm, the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia hosts the sixth edition of Incontri con la Musica (Meetings with Music), a series organized by Promu, a production company committed to promoting chamber music and experimenting with new forms of cultural enjoyment. The Villa Giulia Museum, custodian of an exceptional archaeological heritage, thus becomes a place par excellence where music, art, and thought meet, creating a unique cultural experience.

After dedicating previous editions to Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms, this year's project has chosen to explore the creative universe of Robert Schumann. A journey built around a single composer, therefore, to convey his richness, depth, and extraordinary ability to transform his inner world into music. This is, in fact, the distinctive aspect of the festival: ensuring that each edition becomes a journey into the mind of a composer, rather than a succession of concerts.

Among the main performing artists are the violinist Roman Simovic, the pianists Enrico Pace, Maurizio Baglini and Luigi Carroccia, the clarinetist Alessandro Carbonare, the cellist Enrico Bronzi, the violists Luca Ranieri and Milena Simovic, the  Johannes Trio, the Prometeo Quartet and the Filarmonica Umbra "Vittorio Calamani" Orchestra.

Throughout the event, the Museum will remain open to the public until 11:30 PM, transforming each event into an itinerary that intertwines historical and archaeological heritage and music. The Renaissance courtyard thus becomes a unique space, where history dialogues with the art of sound. Thanks to a high-definition sound system developed by Promu, chamber music finds an open-air dimension that preserves its intimacy and rich timbre, transforming Villa Giulia into a grand concert hall under the stars.

The event also features the musicologist Guido Barbieri, who, before each concert, meets with philosophers, writers, artists, and scholars in conversations dedicated to the relationship between music, literature, the visual arts, and contemporary thought. This significant presence guides the audience in approaching Schumann's music from ever-changing perspectives, making listening the culmination of a much broader cultural experience.
