The multidisciplinary show Deledda, on stage at the Auditorium Conciliazione, intertwines dance, music, and words to tell the story of an emblematic figure of the female universe: Grazia Deledda, a model of talent and tenacity who, with her actions and an extraordinary courage for her time, paved the way for women's emancipation.
The show's aim is to tell the stories of mothers through the eyes of their sons, singers, authors, and poets who, in their lyrics, have questioned how to be better men alongside and thanks to women, giving voice to a sensitive male figure, capable of recognizing love in its deep sense, even to the point of sacrifice. This is, in fact, the central theme of Cenere (Ash), in which Ananias, son of Olì, the unfortunate mother who is the protagonist of the novel, understands that love is not merely desire or a dream, but also healing and acknowledging the pain of others. The stage thus becomes a place where art, through words and music, can contribute to shaping a more just and more informed male perspective across generations. A perspective mediated by the verses of those poets who, when listened to, sung, and internalized, have become emotional memories and the possibility of future change.
The show features the dance star Emanuela Bianchini, the principal dancer Damiano Grifoni and the soloists of Mvula Sungani Physical Dance, the spoken word by Lia Careddu, the live music by the voices of Flo and Serena Pisa, the musical director Ernesto Nobili (guitar, plectrums), Erasmo Petringa (cello, bass), Francesco Di Cristofaro (piano, flutes, accordion), Marco Caligiuri (drums, percussion, electronics), and the Europa InCanto string orchestra, with rearranged music by Lucio Battisti, Vasco Rossi, Luca Barbarossa, Fabrizio De Andrè, Franco Battiato, Roberto Vecchioni, Renato Zero, lyrics by Grazia Deledda, choreography by Emanuela Bianchini and Mvula Sungani and the concept and direction by Mvula Sungani.
