Da Renoir a Picasso, da Miró a Fontana. 120 capolavori della grafica del ’900

Organised by the Lazio Region and curated by Simona Bartolena, alongside Enrico Sesana and Luigi Tavola, the exhibition hosted by WeGil – the Lazio Region’s cultural hub in Trastevere – takes visitors at the heart of the European art scene between the late nineteenth century and the post-Second World War period, one of the most dynamic and fruitful periods in the history of art over the last two hundred years.

The leading Italian and international masters are showcased in the exhibition through the graphic works they produced. Visitors will admire over 120 original prints, some of which are rare or unique, by artists such as Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Dubuffet, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana and others. The exhibition highlights the importance of art prints as an autonomous artistic language and, often, as a field of innovative research and experimentation.

From etching to lithography, from woodcut to pochoir, the exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to gain an understanding of the role and expressive potential of the various printmaking techniques. The works on display demonstrate how each master has reinterpreted these techniques in their own personal way, achieving surprising results.
