Now in its fourth year, Felicittà is a city-wide festival dedicated to all those organisations — associations, foundations, academies, cooperatives and many more — that are at the heart of the city and bring it to life with their services, ideas and projects. It is a special opportunity to discover Rome’s historical, artistic and cultural heritage through a wide-ranging program of events in venues not usually open to the public.
The big new feature of this year’s festival is the seaside, with the opening in Ostia of the fully equipped public beaches Rebirth, L’Alba Beach, Angels by Bahia, Marabù, Punta Ovest and Amanusa, and the Village – a confiscated property now entrusted to a consortium of social organisations. Among the urban venues dedicated to culture and remembrance, the following are opening their doors on an exceptional basis: Forma Urbis, Teatro Torlonia, Casa Pertini Voltolina, the National Institute of Roman Studies, the Mattatoio Foundation - La Pelanda, the Acquario Romano, the Casa del Jazz, Forte Antenne, the Cristiano Censi Library, the Roman Philharmonic Academy and the Casa della Resistenza. Ample space is also devoted to sport, with the Fulvio Bernardini Sports Centre, the Palestra della Legalità and The Spot Skate Park in Ostia.
Alongside culture and sport, the event highlights the city’s spirit of solidarity with the opening of the Casa dell’Amicizia run by the Community of Sant’Egidio, the San Francesco Social Cooperative, So.Spe. - Solidarity and Hope, and the national headquarters of Telefono Rosa. Felicittà is also opening the doors of the APS Giovani Anziani Cornelia senior citizens’ center in the former Campari factory, as well as the Scholè, Batti il tuo tempo and Open Lab Giovani youth centers. Younger children can take part in Explora’s evening adventures and the virtual immersions at Officine del Mare.
Two free buses, in Rome and Ostia, are available (booking essential on +39060608) to visit some of the venues taking part in the event. The Rome bus will depart at 6.00 pm from Forma Urbis, continuing on to the Torlonia Theatre, the National Association of Telefono Rosa Volunteers, the Acquario Romano, the Casa della Resistenza and the Mattatoio Foundation at the Pelanda, before returning to Forma Urbis. The Ostia bus will depart at 6.00 pm from Rebirth Beach, continuing on to the Village, The Spot Skate Park, Angels by Bahia, Alba Beach, Marabù and Amanusa, before returning to Rebirth Beach.
