Storie d'Acqua (Water Stories) is the title of a new reading circle that presents water as a narrative, symbolic, and political element at the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia. The result of a collaboration between the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia and Talento di Roma APS, this new cultural participation project focuses on the dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary practices, promoting encounters that aim to strengthen a sense of community through effective tools such as reading, listening, and shared imagination.
The project's central theme is water, seen as a common thread spanning eras and languages, connecting texts that are often very distant from one another yet share universal elements such as journey, boundary, passage, and conflict. Water thus becomes a constant and ever-changing presence, a vital element and at the same time a space of transformation, refuge and oblivion, origin and arrival. It is no coincidence that water is a constant presence at Villa Giulia. Even today, the Nymphaeum, an architectural complex designed by Bartolomeo Ammannati, is the beating heart of the Villa, with its rich architectural decorations and grandiose fountains. From here, the pure water of the Virgo aqueduct flows, making the Nymphaeum a symbolic place of continuity between past and present.
The first three meetings of the reading circle are part of the Festa della lettura (Reading Festival), the widespread literary event organized by Il Talento di Roma APS with the support of Municipio II of Rome Capital. The theme of the 2026 edition is "Words Beyond Borders," an invitation to reflect on the possibility of dialogue and exchange through literature.
