The Museum and Picture-gallery of the Basilica of Saint Paul is located in the Monastery annexed to the Basilica. Funerary pagan and Christian tombstones, sarcophagi, inscriptions and various objects coming from the ancient Ostiense Cemetery, situated in the area where the Basilica rises today, are set up in the spaces of the thirteenth century cloister and on the upper floor of the building. A picture-gallery with paintings dated from the thirteenth to the eighteenth century, chorales of the seventeenth and eighteenth century and prints reproducing the Basilica before 1823, year when it was partially destroyed by a fire, can also be visited. The first series of portraits of the Supreme Pontiffs (42 medallions) commissioned by Saint Leo the Great is also kept here.Connections: Metro B - S. Paolo Bus 23 - 702
