Based on the book La Principessa Cincillà e altre fiabe di famiglia (The Cincillà Princess and other family tales) by Alessandro Portelli, the show at the Argentina Theater with Chiara Lombardo was born from an idea by Sabina de Tommasi, who stages a fairy tale, using the techniques of puppet theater, reading aloud, and revisiting the ancient Japanese art of kamishibai (lit. "paper theater show"), a form of paper storytelling characterized by a narrator, who moved from one village to another with his small theater/butai. From this theatrical experiment came an amusing little show for adults and children, where the protagonists experience bizarre adventures.
A production of the Teatro di Roma – Teatro Nazionale, and the Schegge di Cotone Association.
Alessandro Portelli is an expert in oral history. In his book, The Chinchilla Princess and other family tales, published by Donzelli Editore, he collected the stories he invented first for his children, and then for his grandchildren, from 1980 to the present.
