The third edition of the Roma Eco Race 2025, a regularity and fuel economy competition exclusively for alternative-fuel vehicles, returns to the capital in October. The race, open to everyone—from enthusiasts to industry professionals—is organized by Automobile Club Roma and Pik Race, for the motorsport aspects, and Punto Gas, an operator in the automotive and sustainable mobility sector.
The race covers a lengthy route of approximately 200 kilometers, winding through the city of Rome, the Castelli Romani area, and the province of Frosinone. Starting in Rome, it passes through the capital city, reaching Albano Laziale and Frascati in the Castelli Romani region, which will host the first trials. The route then passes through Monte Livata, Collepardo, Vico nel Lazio, and other evocative landscapes of the Monti Prenestini, before reaching the final stop in the charming town of Fiuggi, where the crews of the second edition of the Roma Eco Race will arrive and receive awards. This route, therefore, promotes Rome and the metropolitan city, aiming to raise awareness of its historical and natural beauties from a "green" perspective through sustainable tourism. Sustainable tourism, in fact, promotes the valorization and protection of the region's socio-cultural and environmental resources.
The initiative's goal is to promote greater environmental awareness and encourage sustainable mobility through the use of eco-friendly, low-impact vehicles powered by biofuels, LPG, methane, electric, hybrid, and hydrogen. The Roma Eco Race thus concretely demonstrates how it is possible to reduce emissions without sacrificing mobility and the economic development of the region.
This third edition of the Roma Eco Race also places special emphasis on proper nutrition during the race. Thanks to the contribution of Dr. Sandra Di Cocco, a nutritionist, and in collaboration with Coldiretti, the organization offers competitors a dedicated menu, designed to ensure energy, concentration, and well-being throughout the race. Consuming light, nutritious foods helps avoid drowsiness, improves reflexes, and maintains energy levels throughout the race.
The event is included in the national sports calendar of the Green Challenge Trophy and the Green Endurance Cup and offers points valid for the Aci Sport Italian Alternative Energy Championship. It also enjoys the patronage of the Minister of Sport and Youth, of Sport and Health, CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee), and the Municipality of Fiuggi. Finally, this year's partnership with UIGA, the Italian Union of Automotive Journalists, has been renewed. Sara Assicurazioni and BRC Gas Equipment are sponsors of the event.
