The IUC – University Concert Institution, for the “Classical at Sunset” cycle, presents the harpist Brian Meloni Lebano with the concert The Harp and the Charm of Late-Romantic Virtuosity at the Botanical Garden.
The concert unfolds through a sound path made of elegance, poetry and lyricism in a recital dedicated to the classical harp in its moment of maximum expressive splendor, namely the late-Romantic period, an era in which the harp definitively freed itself from its decorative role within the orchestra, to instead assert itself as a solo instrument of great refinement and evocative charm. The program ranges from Händel to Nino Rota, alternating pages of more intimate and singable writing with more brilliant and articulated pieces, in which the harp reveals all the richness and variety of its expressive language. The ideal fulcrum of the concert is La Source by Albert Zabel (1834-1910), a piece that is a symbol of the late-Romantic style, lyrical and captivating. Along with the latter, there are masterpieces by authors who have been able to exalt all the nuances of the instrument, enhancing its poetic and technical aspects.
Program:
Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759) Passacaglia for Harp from Suite No.7 in G Minor, HWV 432
