The parish was erected on 5 June 1962 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara Quo uberius suo and entrusted to the priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Bétharram. Provisionally, the chapel of the Daughters of the Cross was used as the parish seat. It was only in 1992 that work began on the renovation of the chapel and its transformation into a parish church, which was consecrated by Cardinal Camillo Ruini on 7 October 1995.
On 6 December 1998, the church received a visit from Pope John Paul II. Since 2006, the parish has been entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome.
