The documentary and photographic exhibition at Villa d’Este, curated by Andrea Bruciati, Director of the Institute, tells the story of the restoration of some important spaces kept inside Villa Adriana, Villa d’Este and the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor, illustrating the great commitment of the VILLÆ in the valorization of their heritage.
The exhibition documents, starting from the interventions that have affected Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este since 2022 - such as the emptying and cleaning of the Canopus, the Pecile and the Maritime Theatre (2023) and the inauguration of the Yourcenar Path (2024) at Villa Adriana; the restoration of the Fontana dell'Ovato and the Fontana dei Draghi at Villa d'Este - the works currently underway for the restitution to the public of the Mouseia at Villa Adriana, the Diana's Cave at Villa d'Este and the rooms of the Via Tecta at the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor.
The exhibition, accompanied by historical finds and on-site discoveries during the restoration campaigns, also presents a reflection on the future, with projects, sketches, ideas and suggestions that underline the vision of a constantly evolving construction site, such as the VILLÆ of Tivoli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
