The initiative Rome is moving, organized by the councilor for Mobility of Rome Capital, Eugenio Patanè at the former Atac depot in San Paolo, was an opportunity to take stock of the mid-term - in the two and a half years of city government - on administrative activities regarding transport. Present, in addition to the councilor and the mayor Roberto Gualtieri, almost the entire Capitoline council, the leaders of Atac and Roma Metropolitane.

In Rome, in fact, 10 billion have been invested in transport and mobility systems for the current decade, but another 20 would be needed for infrastructure for the next decade; for this reason the Municipality has made an appeal to the government to think together on mobility policies for the Capital that look to 2040.

Among the most important results, to be shown to citizens, the following were highlighted: the replacement of 24 percent of the tram tracks, the purchase of new trains, trams and buses, complete replacement of the Metro A infrastructure which is valid for thirty years, the design of new tramways, the overhaul of 91 percent of the transfer systems in the stations, therefore escalators and elevators. For the near future, however, the main objective is to reduce the frequency on Metro B which to date, according to the mayor, is not acceptable, but which will reach four minutes on the common route and eight minutes on the branches in 2025, to then gradually descend.

The occasion was also useful to reiterate perhaps the most ambitious goal, that is, to create a true intermodal transport network that provides the user with more options for moving around the city, also encouraging sharing vehicles and infrastructures useful for using bicycles safely.
