Il rosso e il nero

For the first time in Rome, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma presents Il rosso e il nero, Uwe Scholz's masterpiece inspired by Stendhal's famous 1830 novel.

The brilliant German choreographer, who died in 2004, created the evocative ballet in three acts in 1988, succeeding in giving a choreographic interpretation to the extraordinary intensity of the French writer's work. 

On stage, in Ignasi Monreal's new setting, with costumes by Anna Biagiotti, are the étoiles, principal dancers, soloists and corps de ballet of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma performing the passionate and dramatic story of the young Julien Sorel, the charming Madame de Rênal and the Marquis de la Mole's daughter, Mathilde, accompanied by a collage of splendid music by Hector Berlioz, performed by the Orchestra dell'Opera di Roma, conducted by Martin Georgiev, in his Roman debut.
