The Teatro Brancaccio welcomes Essenze jazz, a musical journey through Eduardo De Crescenzo’s artistic career, bringing together much-loved songs and the experimentation that has shaped his distinctive sound. The project reflects the maturity of an artist who continues to explore new forms of expression while remaining true to his own artistic sensibility.
The concert creates an intense meeting point between Italian singer-songwriter tradition, jazz, blues and Mediterranean influences, in a constant dialogue between composition and improvisation. At its heart is a desire to break free from the conventional song format, exploring new possibilities and rediscovering fresh emotions on stage.
The setlist features iconic songs such as Ancora, L’odore del mare, E la musica va, Dove, Il racconto della sera, C’è il sole, La vita è un’altra, Naviganti and Sarà così. Each song takes on new jazz-inflected nuances, while De Crescenzo’s voice, rich in blues influences, becomes an instrument in its own right, engaging with the other musicians through improvisation, virtuosity and moments of powerful emotional intensity.
Joining De Crescenzo on stage is an outstanding line-up of musicians: Enzo Pietropaoli on double bass, Marcello Di Leonardo on drums, Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Daniele Scannapieco on saxophones and Susanna Krasznai on cello. Together, they create a continuous creative exchange in which musical precision and interpretative freedom come together in an authentic and captivating experience.
