At the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, as part of Romaeuropa Festival 2026 and in collaboration with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner returns to the big screen in a special cine-concert format. Presented in high definition, the film is accompanied by a live performance of Vangelis’ celebrated score, performed by The Avex Ensemble in perfect synchronisation with the images.
Released in 1982, Blade Runner is a landmark work of contemporary cinema, bringing together science fiction, film noir and philosophical reflection. At the heart of the story is Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford, a replicant hunter tasked with tracking down four artificial beings who have escaped from the off-world colonies. His encounter with Rachael, played by Sean Young, leads him to confront increasingly profound questions about memory, identity and what it means to be human.
Vangelis’ music is an essential part of the film’s identity: its electronic soundscape creates the story’s distinctive futuristic and atmospheric world, constantly engaging in dialogue with the images. The Avex Ensemble, the ensemble at the heart of the Blade Runner LIVE project, brings together musicians and a combination of electronic and acoustic instruments to recreate the score’s complex sonic landscape live.
The cine-concert offers audiences the opportunity to rediscover a landmark film through the meeting of cinema and live music, highlighting one of the most iconic film scores in the history of cinema.
The film is presented in English with Italian subtitles, has a running time of 138 minutes, including an interval, and is recommended for audiences aged 14 and over.
Programme subject to change.
