Officina Pigneto

Officina Pigneto is a permanent cultural workshop that operates across various venues in the Pigneto district; it is a completely open, accessible and mobile space with two main venues: the Nuovo Cinema Aquila and the Goffredo Mameli Library. The project conceived by the Municipality of Rome is promoted by the Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Biblioteche di Roma - Libraries of Rome and the Nuovo Cinema Aquila, and with organizational support from Zètema Progetto Cultura. Its aim is to weaveing together literature, art, science and critical thinking, involving citizens, writers, booksellers, publishers and cultural organisations from across the city.

The program is curated by writer Nicola Lagioia, in collaboration with writer Anna Voltaggio, and is divided into four quarters, each with a central theme. The events (every Thursday at 6.30 pm, except in August) take four different forms: lectures, featuring writers, directors, artists, publishers and cultural figures; in-depth interviews with cultural and artistic figures; group interviews involving reading groups from the Libraries of Rome; and debates with experts and public figures on major cultural, artistic and scientific themes. The cultural program is complemented by courses, workshops and practical sessions.

The central theme of the 11 events in Officina Pigneto’s first-quarter program is “Sognare Forte” (Dream Big): a way of conveying the idea of a city that aspires to build new visions of the future, placing the relationships between people at the heart of everything.
