The Argentina, India, and Torlonia theaters, places steeped in history, are presented through guided tours - entitled “I'll Show You the Theater Now!” - led by the theater's actors and actresses. These tours take you through the most hidden and fascinating spaces of these three theaters, accompanied by real or plausible historical figures who once inhabited those places.
Already in front of the Teatro Argentina, we pause to admire the neoclassical façade inspired by Valadier. Looking up, above the large arched windows, one can read the sentence dedicated to the muses of tragedy, poetry, and dance: "To the arts of Melpomene, Euterpe, and Terpsichore". Upon entering, one is plonged in the richness of its past; in the foyer, one is greeted by the actors and actresses of the Teatro di Roma. From here, the actual traveling tour of the theater begins, exploring the history of the great works performed there and its major authors, such as Gabriele D'Annunzio and Luigi Pirandello, as well as the notebooks of Wolfgang von Goethe and Stendhal, authors who visited Rome. In the Sala Squarzina, one can discover the most authentic Rome with Belli's sonnets in Roman dialect. And then, unexpectedly, the full majesty of the Argentina Theater opens up, with its six tiers of boxes, which Marcel Proust called "small suspended salons", its decorated green ceiling, and its imposing 16-branch chandelier. The tour finishes in the refectory of the Benedictine convent of Farfa Abbey, in the archaeological area between the Theater and the Curia of Pompey, the site of Julius Caesar's assassination.
