Thrilling challenges, intense emotions and unforgettable moments are the hallmarks of the Guinness Six Nations, now firmly established as one of the major annual sporting events in Rome.
The Stadio Olimpico hosts the blockbuster showdown between the Italy national team and the England national team, staged as part of the premier international 15-a-side rugby tournament in the Northern Hemisphere.
Now in its 132nd year, this prestigious competition boasts a rich and storied history. Founded in the late nineteenth century as the Home Nations Championship, it was originally contested exclusively by the four teams of the British Isles. Between 1910 and 1931, and again from 1947 to 1999, France was invited to compete and the tournament became known as the Five Nations. The current name dates back to 2000, marking the debut of Italy, now in its twenty-seventh appearance in the championship.
As tradition dictates, each of the six teams faces the others once only, playing in the largest stadiums of the six capital cities.
The Guinness Six Nations 2026 kicks off on Thursday 5 February with the unmissable clash between Ireland and France. Italy will host France in the third round and England in the fifth round, culminating in “Le Crunch”, the final match of Super Saturday – the pinnacle of the sporting calendar, featuring three consecutive fixtures – on 14 March.
