Circo Maximo Experience 2026. Immersive tour of the Circus Maximus in augmented and virtual reality

An exciting augmented and virtual reality experience exploring the largest entertainment building of antiquity and one of the greatest ever built: the Circus Maximus.

This immersive visit, lasting around 40 minutes, is itinerant and structured into eight stages. It takes place within the archaeological area and requires the use of a headset. All multimedia devices and headphones are sanitised after each use, and the headphones are provided with disposable covers.

With the help of augmented and virtual reality, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the history of the site. A journey through time brought to life by architectural and landscape reconstructions of all the Circus’s phases: from its first, simple wooden structure to the splendour of the Imperial age, from the Middle Ages to the early decades of the 20th century.
The experience reveals the ancient Valley of Murcia gradually filling with buildings, a walk through the Circus among the shops of the time, a thrilling chariot race amid roaring crowds and spectacular crashes, and finally a breathtaking moment as the imposing Arch of Titus, around 20 metres high, is reconstructed before your eyes in full-scale (1:1) augmented reality.

The narration is available in Italian (with voices by actors Claudio Santamaria and Iaia Forte), English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese.

Subtitled versions are also available, in Italian and English, for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors.

Entry is organised in small, timed groups.
