
The magic of Christmas returns to the iconic EUR district with an unmissable widespread event dedicated to the most exciting time of the year.
There are plenty of original gift ideas - handicrafts, vintage magazines and collectables, personalised prints, toys, costume jewellery and textiles - at the Christmas stands of the enchanting Christmas village at the Lake in Viale America, with its wooden houses illuminated by strings of lights, offering a rich selection of traditional local, Italian and international food. Not to be missed is the impressive Ferris wheel, the tallest ever installed in Rome, to be inaugurated on 8 December, the ice rink and playground, and, for children, Santa's House, where they can leave a letter with their wishes, as is tradition.
On Immaculate Conception Day, appointment for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Village in Viale America and the inauguration of the big Ferris wheel in Viale Oceania, as well as, in Viale Europa, under the steps of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, for the lighting of the church, the steps and the tree, to the swing notes of Vera Dragone and Ronnie & The Ramblers and the performance of the flag throwers and musicians of Borgo Velino.
Besides the Christmas Village, open every day until 6 January, the event, organised by the IX Municipio Roma EUR, runs through the neighbourhood with 13 travelling stages and a rich programme of initiatives, hosted in places such as Parco della Cecchignola, Parco Vivenza, Parco Aldo della Rocca, Parco dei Limoni, Via Sapori, Piazzale del Mercato a Fonte Meravigliosa, Parco Lima, Parco Caduti delle Forze dell'Ordine, Via Elio Vittorini, Piazza Cina, Parco dello Stardust, and Piazza Rodari.
