The evening at the Palladium Theatre offers a program that pays homage to the warm and intense voice of the viola, the protagonist of a journey that spans centuries of music.
We begin with the Brandenburg Concert No. 6 in B-flat major, BWV 1051, a piece that highlights the timbre of the low and middle strings, and the Concert for Two Violins in D minor, BWV 1043 by J. S. Bach, presented here in a unique version for two solo violas, where the contrapuntal dialogue takes on new timbral nuances. This is followed by Max Bruch's Romanza, Op. 85, a deeply lyrical piece that showcases the instrument's lyricism.
The second part of the concert is dedicated to Roberto Molinelli with the Italian Opera Promenade, a refined tribute to Verdi, and with the Milonga y Chacarera dances, inspired by South American rhythms and colours.
Featuring Anna Serova and Lorenzo Rundo, accompanied by the Roma Tre Orchestra, this journey celebrates the allure of the viola, evoking, in its very title, the famous film The Color Purple, where music, emotion, and life intertwine in a single experience.
